Indian Institute of Geomagnetism (IIG) offers Doctoral Programme in Geomagnetism and Allied Fields pertinent to studies of Solid Earth, Upper Atmosphere and ObservatoryData Analysis. Selected candidates willberequired to do researchwork at IIG, Navi Mumbai.
IndianInstitute of Geomagnetism is a recognizedcentrefor conducting researchleadingto Ph.D. degreebyfollowing universities in the subjects specified:

1. University of Mumbai (Physics)
2. Shivaji      University, Kolhapur (Physics)
3. North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon (Physics, Applied Geology,      Environmental Science)
4. SRTM      University, Nanded (Geophysics, Environmental Science)
5. Andhra      University, Visakhapatanam (Geophysics)

Scholarship: asper CSIR/UGC Rulefor JRF.
In addition, bookgrant of Rs. 6,000/- per annum is providedto students during the secondand subsequent years.

Requirements: M.Sc. / M.Sc. (Tech.) in Physics / Applied Physics / Geophysics / Applied Geology / Environmental Science with a minimum of 60 % marks throughoutand Physics orChemistry or Mathematicsas a subject in B.Sc.

Selection Criteria : Candidates who are inpossession of the GATE / NET (for JRF only) certificatevalid up toJanuary 2015 in subjectcode -2 (Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Science) or subject code -5 (Physical Science) / PET certificate fromUniversity of Mumbai in Physics / Shivaji University, Kolhapur in Phyiscs / North Maharashtra University Jalgaon in Physics, Applied Geology, Environmental Science / SRTM Univeristy, Nanded in Geophysics, Environmental Science / Andhra University, Visakhapatnam in Geophysics willbe called  for the interview. Candidates who havenotqualifiedany of the above will have to undergo a written test conducted by IIG followed by interview.

Place of Research Work: The candidate should specify where he/she would liketocarryout research work either at Headquartersin Mumbai, EGRL Tirunelveli or KSKGRL Allahabad.
