State Bank of India (SBI) Recruitment of Stenographers 2012
The State Bank of India (SBI) was constituted on 1 July 1955. Arguably the most respected bank in the country, SBI has invited applications from Indian citizens for the post of Stenographers. The newly appointed Assistants/ Stenographers will be on probation for a period of 6 months.

Eligibility Criteria for recruitment to the post of Stenographer in State Bank of India (SBI)
Educational Qualification: Minimum 12th Standard (10 + 2) pass or equivalent qualification with a minimum of aggregate 60% marks (55% for SC/ ST/ PWD/ XS). PWD (OBC) & XS(OBC) candidates applying under Special Recruitment Drive are required to have minimum of 60% marks in 12th standard or in equivalent qualification.OR A degree (Graduation level) from a recognised university
Age Limit (as on 1 December 2011): Minimum 18 years, Maximum 28 years
Pay Scale: Rs 7200-400/3-8400-500/3-9900-600/4-12300-700/7-17200-1300/1-18500-800/ 1-19300; Total Emoluments at the basic of pay is Rs 14, 177.
Selection Procedure for recruitment to the post of Stenographer in State Bank of India (SBI): The candidates will be selected on the basis of performance in the written test and interview. The written test (Objective type) will consist of the following tests
- General Awareness
- General English
- Quantitative Aptitude
- Reasoning Ability
- Marketing Aptitude/ Computer Knowledge
The questions in objective tests, except for the test of General English, will be printed bilingual i.e., English & Hindi. There will be negative marks for wrong answers in the Objective tests. 1/4th marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. Candidates will have to pass in each of the objective tests.
Note: Candidates qualified in the written test for recruitment in clerical cadre in the bank and opted for appointment as stenographer will be called for skill test in stenography. The candidate will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English/Hindi at the speed of 100 words per minute. The matter will have to be transcribed on computer in 40 minutes in case of English Stenography and in 55 minutes in case of Hindi Stenography.

Note: Candidates applying only for Stenographer post will also have to pay fee as detailed above.
- Online Payment: The payment can be made by using MASTER/VISA debit/ credit cards or Internet Banking by providing information as asked on the screen. Transaction charges for online payment will be borne by the candidates.
- Offline Payment: The payment can be made by using payment challan available on the website. Fee payment will be accepted from 2nd working day after registration and can be made within three working days at any branch of State Bank of India.
How to Apply for recruitment to the post of Stenographer in State Bank of India: Candidates need to apply online only on the website Before filling the application form, they should scan their photograph and signature as detailed under guidelines for scanning the photograph and signature. There is also a provision to reprint the eReceipt and Application form containing fee details, at later stage.
